Along with fresh fruits in season, many food lovers turn to their favorite comfort foods throughout the summer months. Comfort food makes everything better! So what are some of the classic summer comfort foods that come to mind when it’s warm outside?
Soups
Even when the weather is hot, foodies still love a good soup. Corn chowder cooked in the crockpot or creamy tomato (with a side of grilled cheese), soup equals comfort. No fireplace or winter coat required. And if you want a cold option – gazpacho is the ultimate refresher. As the ad used to say, soup is good food.
Quiche
What’s a convenient and tasty way to get your summer vegetables in? How about whipping up a quiche? You can throw in some spinach, onions, carrots, and zucchini, and with all of those veggies, you won’t feel bad about the extra cheese! A quiche is also a great picnic option, popular with everyone, filling, and easy to serve and eat.
Pasta Salad
Few would argue that pasta is the ultimate comfort food. And in the summer time, you can put together a cold and refreshing pasta salad tossed in a light vinaigrette. Cherry tomatoes for a pop of color, balls of fresh mozzarella for smooth deliciousness, and some cucumbers for crunch. That is the ultimate comfort.
